We also received many great comments from the attendees of the eSummit which are reproduced below:

The most useful part of the program was…

I thought all of the speakers offered rich and useful content from their perspective, both conceptual and practical.

This was one of the best programs/conference sessions that I have ever attended from the standpoint of both quality content and vision.  I was more than happy to have attended and learned a lot.

I learned a lot about the internet archive and the other future possibilities.  There were great presenters, all obviously leaders in the field.  Getting the broad perspective from them was very valuable.

Outstanding speakers…the line-up was great because each speaker touched on and addressed a different piece of the picture.  There was a great balance of long term views of these issues along with some strong concrete examples of how people in the field are tackling these issues today.

This program had an excellent overview of a confusing field, featuring multiple useful perspectives.  Thank you for bringing all these very impressive experts together.

Everything!  This presentation took out a lot of the fears and dread out of it.  I came away with different models that feel viable for the future.  I am very excited by this and felling renewed!

What did you learn today that you will apply to your job?

To be more assertive in advocating for a shift in the culture and resources toward a viable future.

E-book copyrights, possible models for future e-book content and what libraries need to think about for the future.

This summit has helped me think about the directions in which we need to take services – this information is significant background for planning decisions.

Much more global perspective on e-books and issues; we can make much more informed purchasing and policy decisions.

Eli – wow!  Need more information on this kind of paradigm.  Joseph – incredibly motivating!

Clibre.com, Gluejar and 24 Symbols.

I will be looking into products that I didn’t even know about plus internet library.

I will wait before plunging into Net Library.

Everything!  I feel like only now, after attending this conference do I truly understand the future of our content for libraries.

I want to join Internet Archive for starters.

Knowledge of future market/publisher model and the benefits/changes of each.  Digitalizing options including technical, legal and accessibility issues.

I now understand the importance of budgeting for e-books.  Very empowering!

Adopting an attitude of what customers want now and in the future.  Be systematic and see my library as a living and changing organism.

Other Comments:

Great program – kudos to the organizers for doing this, looking forward to the second annual event.

Excellent!  Very important topic and these are probably the best possible people to talk about it.

The timing of this program is a good example of how NJSL, Infolink and NJLA are in tune with the concerns/needs of public libraries across the state.

Can our state leadership committee continue to lead us forward on this?  Can we get a statewide membership in Open Library?  Can we develop some resources at the state level like Colorado is doing?  I know this is very challenging, but I hate for libraries to cede the field to a few vendors and decide that our future lies only in “content creation”.

First rate conference, excellent speakers, excellent meeting hotel.

Best money that I have spent in ages!  So inspired by all the presenters – thanks!

This may have been the most thought provoking and interesting conference I have attended in many years.

The best conference I have attended in years!  Thank you!  Great job everyone!

This was even better than the AC Futures’ Program!

I was surprised that the registration fee was $50 – the program was worth much more!

Excellent speakers!  This was the best conference I have ever attended.

Excellent program!  Very worthwhile.  Sure wish every librarian in NJ could have attended.  I hope everything will be posted to the NJSL website.

The consortium should explore implementing the Red Rocks model using Adobe Content Server.

This program was an excellent opportunity to be brought up to date on a rapidly evolving and complex issue.  The speakers were first rate.

This is one of the best programs I have attended in 10 years!
