Other Interlibrary Loan Enhancements
Patron Notes for Unfilled/Cancelled Requests
The Full Record Display for requests with a status of Unfilled or Cancelled has been enhanced to include a Note to be displayed to patron field. Text entered in this field is viewable by the patron through the ILL Request Tracking feature. Text is displayed to the patron in the Status field under the heading Note from library staff. This field is intended to allow library staff to inform the patron of the reason(s) the request was not filled. This notification is in addition to the email notification that staff can implement in the Patron Notification Set-up of the Participant Record.
OCLC Number in ILL Full Record Display
The Full Record Display for ILL requests now includes the OCLC bibliographic control number (when available). The OCLC Number is included in ILL requests generated from records retrieved through a Union Catalog or Z39.50 database. The OCLC number is taken from either Tag 001 or Tag 035. This is not the same number as the OCLC ILL number.
Skipping Lenders on Holiday
Previously, JerseyCat used a combination of the Holiday List and Days to Respond for a lender to determine if the lender should be “skipped.” In cases where an “overlap” occurred (for example, a library was due back from holiday in two days, and Days to Respond for the library was four days), the request would “stop” at the lender, and remain until the lender acted on the request or the Days to Respond expired. This functionality has been changed. If a request arrives at a lender that is currently on holiday, the lender is “skipped” and the request is forwarded to the next lender in the Lender List. The History note indicates a date after which the borrower may try again.
Printing Pick Lists
Previously, when printing a Pick List for requests with a status of Pending (By Title) or Pending (By Call Number), all requests in the status were printed, even when the requests had been printed on a previous pick list. The Pick List functionality has been changed so that previously printed requests are not included in new pick lists.
Request Number on Full Record Display
Previously, the Request Number field on the ILL Request Full Record Display was shown following the AGCN field. On certain requests (such as requests for items with long titles), it was necessary to scroll the display to view the Request Number. The Request Number field has now been repositioned as the first field on the Full Record Display to eliminate this need for scrolling.
