JerseyCat 3.2 Arrives on October 14!
JerseyCat will be upgraded on October 13 - 14, from 12 Midnight to 7 a.m. JerseyCat will be unavailable during this time. Items that will be changed in JerseyCat will include:
Reading Level Search
Reading Level Search has been enhanced to Reading Programs, Lexile Level, Interest Level, Reading Level and Point Level.
Searching by SUDOC Number
Previously, when performing a search by SUDOC number, it was necessary to enter an exact SUDOC number (including spaces, slashes, punctuation, etc.) in order to obtain the desired results. If an improperly formatted SUDOC number was entered as the search term for Keyword Search or Advanced Search, the system would not return results. SUDOC numbers are now normalized when a search is submitted to increase the reliability and accuracy of search results. Additionally, SUDOC number searches now support the use of the “*” wildcard character to replace multiple characters in a SUDOC number.
Average Reader Reviews Score on Results Screen
For libraries that have enabled Reader Reviews functionality and have enabled the Display Average Reader Review Score on Brief Record option from within PAC Administration or User Administration, titles shown in the “brief browse” lists to which Reader Reviews are attached include a Reader Reviews link, followed by the average rating of all reviews attached to the title (shown as one-to-five “stars”). Clicking the Reader Reviews link opens the Reader Reviews screen for the title in an additional browser window.
Reporting Inappropriate Reader Reviews
For libraries that have enabled Reader Reviews functionality and have enabled the Enable Inappropriate Review Link option from within PAC Administration or User Administration, each Reader Review shown on the Reader Reviews screen for a given title includes a Report this review as inappropriate link. Selecting this link generates an email to a specified email address, and temporarily deletes the review from the record. The reported review must be approved by library staff before it is again made available from the associated record.
Using the Bibliography
Bibliographies functionality includes a number of improvements that provide additional functionality and workflow improvements, including:
- A View Bibliography link has been added to all Search screens.
- Previously, only records retrieved from AG databases could be added to the Bibliography. Records retrieved from Z39.50 databases may now be added to the Bibliography as well.
“Online Booksellers” Button on Full Record Displays
Previously, for libraries using the Enhanced Record Display feature, the Online Booksellers button was shown only when the Full Record Display was viewed in Labeled Format. The Online Booksellers button is now also shown when the Full Record Display is viewed in Marc Format.
ILL Request Patron Lookup
Previously, when using the Patron Lookup function from the Blank Request Form or ILL Request Form, the system searched the user database for matching patron records only. In some cases, library staff may wish to create ILL requests for other staff members. To ensure the correct form of the staff name is used in such requests (to permit staff to look up their ILL requests), the Patron Lookup function now searches the entire user database (both patron and staff records) to locate matching records.
Submitting Multi-Copy Requests
The initial focus of the cursor is now set to the Number of Copies (creates multiple requests) field, with the default value of 1 selected, allowing library staff to easily enter the desired number of copies. Additionally, when the request is submitted, the system verifies that the value in the Number of Copies (creates multiple requests) field is greater than 1, and displays an advisory message in the event the entered value is equal to or less than 1.
ILL Request Confirmation
The ILL Request Confirmation screen has been modified to include the message “You may track the status of your request using the ILL Request Tracking option in the Patron Menu, if available” to remind library patrons of the availability of the ILL Request Tracking feature for monitoring the status of their current ILL requests.
Browsing by Status
The Borrower’s Title Browse and Lender’s Title Browse screens have been enhanced to provide additional information, as follows:
- Borrower’s Status Browse and Lender’s Status Browse screens now show the request number (Req. No.) for each request in the list.
- Lender’s Status Browse screen now shows the Borrower (library code followed by the library name spellout in parentheses) for each request in the list.
- The Lender field on Borrower’s Status Browse screen now shows the Library Code followed by the library name spellout in parentheses.
Browsing by Title
The Borrower’s Title Browse and Lender’s Title Browse screens now include a Library column. For Borrower’s Title Browse, the Library column shows the Library Code of the current lender for the associated request, followed by the library name spellout in parentheses. If no current lender exists for the request (such as for requests with a status of Awaiting Approval or Unfilled), the Library column shows the message “No Current Lender.” For Lender’s Title Browse, the Library column shows the Library Code of the library that submitted the request, followed by the library name spellout in parentheses.

The Lender’s Status Browse Lists for the Will Supply/In Process have been enhanced to include “Soon to Expire” alerts. All requests in these status categories for which only one day remains before the Deadline or Need By date expires are identified by a in the left column of the list. For example, if the Deadline and/or Need By date is January 18th, the flag will appear on both January 17th and the 18th.
Navigational Improvements for Title Browse

Viewing ILL Request History Information
Previously, ILL request History Information displayed any History Note related to a change in request status followed by the Reason or condition specified when the change in status was submitted. History Information now shows a Notes section which lists the Reason or condition first, followed by any History Notes associated with the request.
Printing ILL Requests
When printing multiple ILL requests from Status Browse List using Print All – With Lenders, Without Lenders, New Requests or New Requests with History, or when printing a single ILL request using Format to Print from a Full Record Display, the Ship To Address is now shown in bold typeface.
Configuring the Pick List
The Pick List feature (accessed from the Lender’s Pending Status Browse List) has been enhanced to allow libraries to select the specific fields for inclusion in Pick Lists and set the order in which the fields are listed. Additionally, libraries may configure the the Pick List feature to print new requests only, or both new and previously printed requests. Configuration of the Pick List is accomplished using the Configure Pick List option from the ILL Administration menu.
“Need By” Date Validation for Firefox Browsers
For users accessing AGent using the Firefox browser: Previously, if the Need By date on an ILL request Full Record Display was entered using an improper format (other than MM/DD/YYYY) or if the Need By date was deleted, and the changes to the request were subsequently submitted, a Microsoft Script error occurred. This condition has been corrected, and under these conditions, an advisory dialog displays the message “Please enter Need By Date in mm/dd/yyyy format.”
