Is Your Library a Destination for Job Seekers?

The New Jersey State Library and the New Jersey Library Association have been visiting legislators on your behalf.  Of all the services that libraries provide, the library service that is resonating most with the legislators this year is what we are doing for job seekers.

We would like to be able to direct legislators to send their constituents to your library.  Are you ready to help job seekers, using all the tools available?

In order to be designated as a Job Seeker Library, we’d like you to be able to answer Yes to the following questions:

  • Is my staff aware of, and able to use specialty databases designed to help job seekers?  (Ref USA, Job & Career Accelerator, etc.)
  • Is my staff willing and able to help someone craft a resume, or direct them to a class that will help them?
  • Is my staff able to help someone fill out an online job application, including helping the customer establish an e-mail account?

I know we all work hard to ensure that all of our customers have a positive experience at the library and you have all been doing a fabulous job.

If you haven’t had a chance to have training on the new databases, please contact Natasha Peter at 609-278-2640 x133.

Please e-mail Peggy Cadigan pcadigan@njstatelib.org and volunteer to be designated as a Job Seeker Library.  Please include your contact information and your Legislative District.
