New ReferenceUSA Online Workshops Scheduled

ReferenceUSA is always evolving in terms of new and innovative ways to deliver and display business and consumer data.  Often times in the rush of our daily activities, these changes go unnoticed and consequently the utility goes underused.

Bill Loges, the ReferenceUSA representative for New Jersey, has created a special program for all of the libraries and librarians in the state.

Shake Up Your Library: Using Hip Hop and Rap to Attract Teens and New Adults

Are you a public librarian who would like funding to enhance or start a hip-hop/rap collection in your public library?

You might be a winner if you attend this all-day event for only $20 that is sponsored by the New Jersey State Library, LibraryLinkNJ and NJLA for youth services librarians and other library staff who work with teens and new adults, or millennials. This program will provide an overview of hip-hop and rap music culture and its appeal to young people by experts in the field and will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Rutgers-Newark, in the Paul Robeson Campus Center. The goal of the program is to encourage youth services librarians to incorporate this type of popular music into their library collections and programs so that the libraries’ will truly reflect the interests of the young people they serve. New Jersey State Library On-the-Go: Next Stop Cape May County Library

Come visit the library from 10:30 am -12:00 pm for an informal "meet and greet" with New Jersey State Library staff. A continental breakfast will start at 10:00 am. Mobile Device Discovery Kit Program

Norma Blake, New Jersey State Librarian, is happy to announce that starting March 1, 2012 public libraries will have the opportunity to apply to borrow a Mobile Device Discovery Kit through a program sponsored by the State Library.

New Directors' Orientation 2012 - Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the New Jersey State Library’s 2012 New Directors’ Orientation. The workshop will be held on February 22 & 29, 2012 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

NJ State Library on the Go at Sparta Public Library - December 13 , 2011

The next stop on the NJ State Library on the Go Tour is Sparta Public Library, 22 Woodport Road, Sparta, NJ 07871 on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Come visit the library for an informal "meet and greet" with the NJSL Library Development Bureau and BTOP staff from 10 am - 11 am, coffee and brunch at 9:30 am.
